Our rooms are almost like an extension of the woods which surround them, like branches wrapping around to protect the peace and quiet of your holiday. There is also the stone, exposed, clearly visible, the fundamental element in the culture of Lunigiana, the land of the stone statues, where hospitality is rooted in a rural culture which is fast disappearing, where welcoming guests forms a central part of our traditions.
Rooms are located in the buildings of the “Borgo Antico“, the historic centre of Apella. These rooms are about 800m from the Tower (where there is the reception and the restaurant ), and can be reached either on foot, through our beautiful Biopark, or by car (there is parking at both facilities).
All rooms are fully but simply furnished and have private bathrooms with showers, heating, bed linen and towels (one bath towel and a bidet towel per person), a mini refrigerator, phone and courtesy soap and shampoo. The rooms are also equipped with free wireless Internet coverage, and have a view out over either the village itself, or the mountains and the green valleys surrounding Apella.

This is about 800m from the Tower (restaurant and check -in area), reachable on foot through our beautiful Biopark, or by car (parking available at both facilities). All have private bathrooms with showers and are characterized by exposed stone walls, terracotta tile floors, chestnut wood beams and windows, all in a style typical of the region. Rooms are provided with: heating, bed linen and towels (one bath towel and a bidet towel per person), mini fridge, phone and guest soap and shampoo. Furniture is in a rustic, country style and includes chairs and table or desk. The apartments are also equipped with free wireless internet coverage, and have a view over either the old village itself or the mountains and the green valley beyond.
All accommodation in the “old town” Apella named “Borgo Antico”, both rooms and apartments, has been developed following principles of ecological sustainability, paying great attention to energy conservation. Using mainly local reclaimed materials, we have adapted to the spirit of the area and the original rural style.
The result is a sort of “Albergo Diffuso” (diffused hotel), where each room or apartment has a specific name, linked to the territory or to a particular local feature, and which guests are invited to discover.
The village also features a special space in the main house, the “Cà della Sciora“, that we call the “relaxation room“. This is a large common room with a fireplace, table, sofa, reading material and publications about the area, and is an ideal spot for our guests to relax. Here, we also have a breakfast room on the ground floor, all exposed stone, built in the former stables of the house, with a stone porch. It also has a panoramic terrace area overlooking the Apuan Alps, adjacent to the beautiful garden of “Casa Nardi“. Here, guests can relax and enjoy our plentiful breakfasts during the spring and summer months.
Rooms include:
central heating
bedlinen (one large towel and a bidet towel per person)
small fridge
hairdryer, soap and shampoo
country style furniture including desk, chairs
free wireless Internet
view over either the old village or the mountains and green valley
Our panoramic swimming pool is also in the village, close to the rooms. It is situated on a natural hillside terrace, and receives direct sun all day.
A distinctive feature of our accommodation is the panoramic terrace areas by the houses. In the past these would have been the site of the shared collective work tasks of the local community, but today they provide ideal areas in which to rest in good weather to enjoy the breathtaking scenery that surrounds us. Children can also play here and the area can, in summer, be thought of as something of a natural “solarium” – with a view.
